What Is Proximity Key?

A proximity key (also known as Push Button Start.Keyless Access.Keyless Entry, Smart Key, Keyless Go or Intelligent Key) is a remote shaped device that authorizes a keyless entrance and ignition mechanism in your car.
When driver is within the appropriate radius, the keyless entry device interacts through combination of audio and infrared waves with your engine control unit to lock and open doors and trunk and even to ignite the car engine while having the key in the pocket.
In 1998, Mercedes-Benz was the first to implement this technology in a vehicle.
Currently, motor vehicle owners can utilize key-less entries and push 2 start ignition on most vehicle models and use operations like remote start, alarm, power windows, mirror adjustment and many more.
